My top 5 favourite authors

Sat on my bed, looking over my bookshelf, I was thinking about how my taste in books has evolved throughout the years. Looking from my early years reading Enid Blyton and Jacqueline Wilson books to Stephanie Meyer and Jenny Hann books of later years. I thought I would go over some of my favourite authors and their standout books or series that I have read.

1) Rick Riordan, Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus. 
This was an easy top choice as to this day I find myself using my knowledge of Greek mythology in situations where I wouldn't have thought I would need it. Reading Percy Jackson led me to wonder further into reading about Greek mythology as the way Riordan made it seem was so exciting and fun and yet reading the real mythology it seems he didn't stray too far from what the books were saying.

2) Derek Landy, Skulduggery Pleasant.
This was an easy second choice. Ever since I borrowed my mates' copy of the second book. I was hooked, I followed this series with great anticipation for the next installment. I found this was a darker look at magic and was so different from stories like Harry Potter as we followed a skeleton detective and his magical sidekick who happened to be the most awesome young magician in these books. I also loved how Landy gave the girls awesome powers that left the men in the books dumbfounded.

3) John Green, An Abundance of Katherines.
This was a hard choice, book-wise. After having my heart ripped out by The Fault In Our Stars I went on a mission to read anything and everything John Green for a while, so this was a hard choice to make picking the specific book I loved. I think he did a great job on an Abundance of Katherines as it felt so different to his other books and I felt I could really relate to Colin Singleton as he spends his time trying to figure out how to be unique only to realise he already was.

4) J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter.
I grew up with the movies and as I've grown fond of the books (as they are so much better) now that I can read them for myself. Prior to Rowlings twitter tirades, changing the history of characters by adding diversity and character points after the series has been over and done with for, she would have been higher, as I love supporting women in all trades, but as time has gone by her flaws and attempts to right wrongs no one noticed before has become tiresome as a fan.

5) Jenny Hann, To All The Boys I've Loved Before.
I will put Jenny Hann as the 5th and final author as she is an old favourite, who has returned. When I was 14 I made it my job to read the summer I turned pretty, not really. caring about the author too much but to see that 5 years later she has returned with a vengeance into my reading life, I think it's only fair I include Miss Hann and her writings.

To All The Boys I've Loved Before

There were many more authors, most from times gone by but I may do a follow up with my favourite authors of the past. I do hope you check out some of these authors works if you haven't already. Other than that, this has been me.
